Abstract

19,073. Wallwin, J. M., and Sinnatt, F. S. Aug. 26. Atmospheric gas burners; perforated-tube and like multiple-jet burners.-In a heating-burner having a compressed-air supply, the burner head is provided with a perforated diaphragm, disk, or wire-gauze, the holes in which converge cutwardly so as to produce a short flame cone without the need of an external air supply. The burner may be used for heating tailors' and laundry irons, brazing and soldering irons, metal-melting appliances, and boilers. In one form, a sheet-metal disk is perforated and pressed by dies into a concave form in order that the holes shall converge. Fig. 5 shows a burner head in which openings a are arranged in concentric rings in the concave face d, and the openings incline towards a common point, disks with converging holes being fitted in the openings. The disks may be fitted in converging openings in ring burners.
