Abstract

18,977. Knapp, T. L. Dec. 22, 1913, [Convention date]. Ink-ribbon mechanism.-A ribbon-spool consists of a polygonal drum open at the bottom and adapted to receive a ribbon-clamp and to be fitted over a similar coupling-member on the driving-shaft. In the arrangement shown, the drum a is made from the blank shown in Fig. 4 and consist of a head b and depending arms d, d<1>, e. The ribbon-clamp is made from a blank similar to that shown in Fig. 4 and consists of a head h and arms k, l, m. The clamp is inserted in the drum a and is secured by the engagement of the arms m with apertures f in the arms e, the ribbon J being clamped between the arm k of the clamp and the arm d<1> of the drum. The spool is detachably secured to the shaft 5 by being fitted over a member 3, which is secured to the shaft and is formed with arms 2. The spool is arranged in a fixed casing 8 provided with a slot 14 for the ribbon, the top and bottom plates of the casing replacing the usual spool-flanges.
