Abstract
27,229. Progress Typewriter Supply Co. July 22, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Inking-apparatus; printing in imitation of typewritten matter.-An inking-ribbon for producing imitation type-writing on rotary printing-machines is supported on the machine by the spool on which it is wound for storage. The spool consists of a spindle 2 whereon is detachably mounted a sleeve 1 which receives the ribbon, one end being secured to a wire 3. The end 7 of the spindle 2 rests in a ring 6, into which the end 5 of the wire passes, and the flanged end 8 is formed with a slot 9 which engages the inturned end 4 of the wire and serves to couple the parts. The spool is supported in the machine by means of sockets 11, 12, and is driven by a member which engages a slot 13.
