Abstract

18,397. Siemens - Schuckertwerke. Ang. 8, 1913, [Convention date]. Percussive hand tools.-In a percussion tool with two co-operating cams for working the plunger, the directly-driven cam is brought to rest during idle running so as to minimize shock. In the form shown in Fig. 1, when the tool 10 is pressed against the work, the toolholder 9 moves inwards and compresses the spring 8, which overcomes the spring 6 and moves the clutch member 3 into engagement with the clutch member 2; the cam 7 is then rotated and, with the plunger 15, is raised against the resistance of the spring 8, which then effects the blow. When the pressure on the tool is relieved, the spring 8 is relaxed and the spring 6 disengages the clutch. In a modification, the tool-holder 9 is not movable and the clutch member 3 is moved into engagement by a spring-pressed trigger. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the handle 17 and motor 16 are movably mounted on the tool casing 13, so as to put the clutch into engagement when pressure is applied to the handle. The clutches comprise disks 4, 5, connected to the clutch members 2, 3 respectively. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) describes also a further form in which a wiper cam raises the plunger against the resistance of an air spring, the cam axle being movable by means of a trigger and carrying one of the clutch members. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
