[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Axial-flow type.-In steam or gas turbines of the impulse type, the mean diameter of the rotor blading and the outer diameter of the guide-wheel passages increase gradually through a part or the whole of the pressure stages. Fig. 2 shows a turbine in which the diameter D of the blades and the diameters E, A of the passages increase continuously through all the stages.
