[Addition to 14,544/14.] Field carriages; housing. - Consists of two modifications o f the housing-arrangements for centre - pivot gun mounts on field carriages, described in the parent t Specification, whereby the displacement of the wheel axle is avoided. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the platform b and the centre-pivot mount a are longitudinally slidable along the trail c by a screwed shaft c working in a nut d connected to the platform. The housed position of the mount is shown by the chain lines. In the second construction, the pivot g about which the mount is turned down is carried by a forwardly-projecting arm on the base of the mount, so that the centre of gravity of the mount, when housed, is nearly over the wheel axle.
