Abstract
14,432. Keller, O. Meyer-. June 16. Valves controlled from a distance; leakage, preventing.-Apparatus for automatically lighting and extinguishing gas lamps at predetermined times comprises a rotary member 38 constructed as a gas-tight piston in the valve casing 2, and connected to a driving-axle 40, the piston member carrying an eccentrically - mounted rotary disk 39 for operating a valve 30 with a minimum of friction. In operation, pins 10 on tappets 6, 7 successively engage a projection 28 on a pivoted arm 26, thereby pressing it back against a spring 27 until it contacts with a lever 25 and rocks the spindle 23. This releases a catch from a secondary spring motor, the axle 40 being then operated and the piston 38 rotated so that the valve 30 is pushed off its seat against a spring 34. When the valve is closed, the arm 42 supports the pilot valve 37 in an open position, and vice versa. In a modification, a second operating-cam is mounted on the piston member for operating a second valve, the two valves in this arrangement being opened simultaneously and closed separately. Suitable pilot valves being provided. The rotary member 38 may also be operated through the intermediary of a diaphragm by variation in the gas pressure.
