Valves controlled from a distance.--A valve device actuated by temporary variations in the main pressure comprises a rotary disk valve operated by a loosely-fitting piston acting through ratchet gear. The piston n, which is weighted at g, is adapted in its extreme positions to contact with sealing-surfaces o, s on the casing. The valve member comprises a disk f with a series of segmental notches f<1>, and is rotated by a pawl d connected by lever j and link k to the piston and adapted to engage a ratchet-wheel c on the valve spindle. In a modification, two valves having differentlyarranged notches are arranged to be actuated by a single ratchet device to control the supply to a series of burners, some of which are extinguished before the others.
