13,119. Aldis, H. L. May 28. Lenses.-A lens for photographic, microscopic, projection, or similar purposes comprises a doubleconvex positive lens a of high refractive index (approximately 1À62) cemented to a nearly planoconcave negative lens b of low refractive index (approximately 1À52), a double-concave negative lens c separated from the lens b by a small air space and of a refractive index which may vary considerably (for example from 1À56 to 1À63), and a nearly plano-convex positive lens d of high refractive index (approximately 1À60) spaced a considerable distance from the third lens c. Optical data for the form shown in Fig. 1, and for a slightly modified form, are given.
