Vehicle-axle bearings; covers.-In a railway - vehicle axle-box comprising an undivided box, a bearing-plate, and a brass, the bearing-plate 9 is subjected to vertical forces only and is secured against axial displacement independently of the brass 2. The brass 2. which has a wide bearing on the axle, is formed with lateral ribs 4, which are supported by cheeks 3 on the inside of the axle-box 10. Projections G on ribs 5 engage other cheeks 7 on the axle-box. The plate 9 has a projection 15 engaging a recess in the box. On slightly lifting the box from the axle, the plate 9 and brass 2 can be removed. The cover 13 of the axle-box is secured by two screws 12 and is protected from rainwater by a fillet 13. A lubricating-opening is closed by a cover 14. Specification 13,338/03 is referred to.
