Rotary stirrers. - A machine for mixing pulp, mixing and causticizing bleach, and like purposes consists of a tank a containing an impeller g at the bottom of the tank which forces material outwards, and a propeller h which forces it downwards. The impeller g and propeller h are arranged on a single shaft b carried in a footstep bearing at the bottom of the tank a. The bottom a' of the tank slopes upwards from the centre and fits the impeller g as nearly as possible. The impeller g is composed of vertically - arranged blades surmounted by a flat ring g<1>. The propeller h may have a cylindrical ring round the tips of the blades.
