Abstract

6399. Rydberg, C. O. Dec. 8, 1913, [Convention date]. Void. [Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Roller bearings.-A self-alining roller bearing has barrel-shaped rollers c running on curved races, the outer one b of which is spherical and the inner one convex. The roller may have a reduced cylindrical portion g running on a rib h on the inner race. The bearing-surfaces may consist of narrow ribs as shown at i, k. The curvature of the rollers may be slightly greater than that of the races, so that there is some looseness towards the ends of the rollers. In a modification, the inner race is spherical, and the outer one is convex, the rollers being larger at the ends than in the middle. The rollers may be confined in a cage consisting of a slotted sleeve l.
