Abstract
6328. Drõger, A. B. March 12. Respirators. - The impure air in breathing- apparatus and in rooms &c. is regenerated by adding oxygen produced by reaction between an easily reoxidizable substance, such as hydrogen peroxide, and a catalyst, such as potassium permanganate. As applied to breathing - apparatus, the hydrogen peroxide &c. is allowed to pass in controllable amounts from a valved container a to a chamber c containing the catalyst d. The generated oxygen is added to the exhaled air passing from the cartridge f for absorbing carbon dioxide to the breathing - bag g. The regenerated air then passes to the mouthpiece, if desired through a second cartridge f<1>, or, in another form, back through the cartridge f. The container a has preferably a vent valve i, which may be connected to the inhaling-tube h by a tube i<1>.
