Nachteilig an
diesem Verfahren ist die aufwendige Herstellung von
Chemikalien-Formkörpern aus zwei verschiedenen
Mischungen. It is known to use compressed gas bottles filled with gaseous oxygen, chlorate cartridges or chemical compositions based on alkali peroxides or dioxides as the oxygen source for oxygen circulators. While devices with compressed gas cylinders or chlorate cartridges require mechanical devices to start or control the development of oxygen, the peroxide masses can be activated by the moisture and carbon dioxide in the exhaled air of the device wearer. As a result, devices based on peroxide materials can be built particularly easily and handily and offer devices with compressed gas cylinders or chorate cartridges considerable advantages. However, it is disadvantageous that at the beginning of ventilation, the development of oxygen from peroxide masses, which is based on the disproportionation of the bound oxygen to elemental and divalent oxygen, is slow. Auxiliary constructions have therefore become known which combine peroxide materials with small chlorate cartridges. The chlorate cartridges serve as a starter and very quickly supply a small amount of oxygen to meet the initial needs of the equipment carrier. However, as mentioned, they require additional mechanical effort, whereby the advantage of the simple construction and handling of the peroxide devices is partially lost again. Another possibility, which has become known from DE-OS 36 39 146, of using oxygen release immediately after ventilation begins, is to surround molded articles made of KO 2 with a thin layer of a mixture of KO 2 and a catalyst material . The catalyst material accelerates the release of oxygen in the first time of ventilation. After some time, the chemical mass has warmed up to such an extent that sufficient oxygen release is ensured even without catalyst material. A disadvantage of this process is the complex production of chemical moldings from two different mixtures.
The object of the invention is the responsiveness
to increase the peroxide masses so far that already too
Sufficient oxygen developed at the beginning of ventilation
and that without auxiliary structures or

have to.
The solution to the problem is achieved in that the
Mass of chemical that releases oxygen from a
dry mixture of strong oxidizing agents with
such substances, which are either peroxo groups
contain or have the property of this at the
through the moisture content of the exhaled air
caused hydrolysis to form.
Alkaliperoxide sowie alle anderen Perverbindungen
(KO2, ZnO2, Erdalkaliperoxide, Peroxosalze und
Peroxihydrate) enthalten Sauerstoff, der starken
Oxidationsmitteln gegenüber als Reduktionsmittel
wirkt, wobei er zu elementarem Sauerstoff wird. Die
Reaktion der Peroxogruppe mit dem Oxidationsmittel
wird unmittelbar bei der Anatmung durch den
Feuchtigkeitsgehalt der Ausatemluft eingeleitet. Diese
Peroxid doppelt soviel elementarer Sauerstoff entsteht
Alkali peroxides as well as all other per compounds (KO 2 , ZnO 2 , alkaline earth peroxides, peroxo salts and peroxy hydrates) contain oxygen, which acts as a reducing agent against strong oxidizing agents, whereby it becomes elemental oxygen. The reaction of the peroxo group with the oxidizing agent is initiated immediately by the moisture content of the exhaled air. This reaction takes place very quickly, and since twice as much elemental oxygen is produced per mole of peroxide as in the case of disproportionation, the invention achieves a rapid development of oxygen in peroxide devices, with a significantly higher yield of released oxygen than with the known chemical mass and without using starter or catalyst. The invention also has the advantage that the chemical mass can be stored either by itself or built into a breathing apparatus because the mixture does not react in the dry state. Only in use, that is, under the influence of the humid exhaled air from the device wearer, does the reaction proceed with the development of oxygen. In another embodiment of the invention, the mixture of permanganate and peroxide can be mixed with an acidic substance such as phosphorus pentoxide or an acidic salt. Then the permanganate is reduced to divalent manganese. Instead of permanganate, periodate can also be used as the oxidizing agent. The periodate is reduced to iodate in an alkaline medium and to elemental iodine in an acid medium. The use of phosphorus pentoxide as an acid-reacting substance has another advantage: Phosphorus pentoxide is highly hygroscopic and therefore binds the moisture in the exhaled air particularly well to the chemical mixture, making oxygen generation even more effective. Hypochlorites and red blood lye salt are also known as oxidizing agents in the sense of the invention. In addition to sodium peroxide, substances which contain peroxo groups can be used: KNaO 3 , K 2 NaO 5 , Li 2 O 2 , MgO 2 , CaO 2 , SrO 2 , BaO 2 , ZnO 2 as well as perborates, percarbonates, perphosphates, persulfates and peroxydehydrates. In addition to potassium dioxide, the dioxides of the other alkali metals and the tetroxides of the alkaline earth metals, but these can only be used as a mixture with the corresponding peroxides, can be used as hyperoxides (substances which form peroxo groups during the hydrolysis).
