Chenille ; materials, special, fabrics containing.-A machine for cutting strips of old or worn carpets &c. and for unravelling the edges of the strips comprises upper and lower cutting-rollers 1, 1<a>, spaced apart, into which the material is fed by rollers 10. The cut strips pass between upper and lower series of fluted rollers 5, which break up the threads along the edges of the strips. These broken threads are then removed, to leave weft fringes, and the strips (intended for use as weft in weaving carpets, rugs, table covers, curtains, &c.) may be twisted by hand or by mechanical means.
