Abstract
819,974. Weaving looms. DEVELOPPEMENT TEXTILE S.A., DETESA. Dec. 21, 1956 [Dec. 21, 1955], No. 39064/56. Class 142(2) A rotating drum 3 over which the warp threads 63 pass and on which the thread is formed, comprises co-axial polygonal plates circular alternating therewith, circular-separator plates 66, to define between them cir- cumferential warp - guiding grooves; the plates are provided with aligned notches, to define a series of longitudinal weft receiving grooves 62; the notchesFIG. 17. in the plates 66 have recesses 70 which act as a reed and beat up the weft; and coacting blades 74, 75 align the warp threads with their grooves whilst blades 68 extract the woven cloth from the grooves. The weft is introduced by needles 1 reciprocated by chains 4, 5 traversing in opposite senses and bearing pins 6 which engage in slots in vanes 8 borne, at one end of the needles. The chains are driven by sprockets 10, 11 on a shaft 9 geared to the axle of the drum 3 and having a universal joint between the sprocket in order that the planes in which the chains run may be suitably orientated. Each needle runs in a longitudinally slit tube 22 closed at the rear end by a block which is automatically displaced on insertion of the needle. Each weft passes from its spool 30 to the needle via a brake 31 which is released at the appropriate time by a cam 33. A take-up arm 34 and associated electrical contact 35 cause stoppage of the machine if the thread breaks. Electrical contacts 42-45 cause stoppage of the machine if a needle fails to follow its proper path, or if the weft fails. At the end of the forward stroke of a needle, its thread is held first by a brush and then by a strap 36, whilst the needle retires, is beaten up as the drum continues to rotate and is then trapped in its needle and cut by a knife 39. The last two threads at each edge are fed through holes 49 in devices 46, 47 which oscillate to produce leno crossings. Projecting weft ends are cut by coacting rotating and stationary blade 56, 57 and sucked away through a tube. Specification 705,064 is referred to.
