Carburetting.-Relates to carburettors of the type in which there is no free liquid, the carburettor being applicable for lighting, heating, and power purposes, including lighting street lamps and trains. The carburettor comprises a casing a which may be jacketed, containing a zigzag arrangement of removable baffles n supported on ledges k and each preferably comprising hinged members m having an absorbent pad o between them. Hydrocarbon liquid is admitted through an opening d, and after the pads are saturated, the excess is withdrawn at a cock r. Air or gas under pressure, which may be controlled by a reducing-valve s or governor, is admitted through a pipe i and passes over the baffles through openings p, the gas passing away for use through a pipe q.
