Abstract

4552. Campbell, F. W. Feb. 21. Mantles are provided internally with an incandescent filament formed by loosely plaiting, knitting, weaving, spinning, or twisting one or more single threads to form an open chainlike filament. Fig 1 shows a filament formed by knitting a single thread a. Two or more threads may be treated as a single thread and knitted as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 1<a> shows a plaited filament, Fig. 3 a narrow woven or knitted strip or tube, and Fig. 7 a chenille or like filament. The filament may be suspended from the mantle-ring d, Fig. 6, and may be strengthened by a thread of asbestos e. Specification 28,258/13 is referred to.
