Abstract

1405. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Jan. 31, 1913, [Convention date]. Addition to 1407/13. Dynamos, regulating; exciting.-Relates to a form of the regulating-arrangement described in the parent Specification, in which the fieldmagnet winding D of a generator is connected on the one hand to an auxiliary armature brush a<3>, and on the other hand to the sliding-contact E of a regulating-resistance connected to an outside source of voltage G. The invention consists iu connecting the regulating-resistance H across the main brushes a', a<2> of the generator, and in joining the positive lead of the source G to an intermediate point h<3> on the resistance H. As long as the contact E is situated between the points h<1>, h<3> of the resistance, the regulation of the generator is in accordance with the prior Specification. If the contact E is moved over the point h<3> towards the point h<2>, the generator behaves similarly to a self-exciting machine, and its armature voltage can be increased beyond the amount determined by the position h<3> of the contact. A cut-out depending upon the movement of the contact E may interrupt the positive conductor of the source G as soon as the contact has passed over the point h<3> towards the point h<2>. The brush a<3> may rest on a slipring connected to the armature winding.
