Abstract

28,817. Leitner, H. June 19, 1912. Dynamos, regulating; exciting.-The main brushes b, b<1>, Fig. 1, of a reversible dynamo, for train-lighting &c. and having one or more auxiliary brushes d for controlling the fieldmagnet excitation, are, upon reversal of the direction of rotation, rocked round by the friction of the commutator through approximately 180 electrical degrees, the auxiliary brush or brushes being rocked through a small angle of lead only, or remaining stationary; advantage is taken of the equivalent electricalpositions on the commutator. The movements of the brush-rockers are limited by stops, which may serve as the armatures of electro-magnets carried by the brush-rockers for the purpose of holding them firmly in the limiting positions.
