Dynamos, regulating. - The voltage of dynamo-electric generators is automatically regulated by means of a supplementary armature mounted axially between the poles, or between the poles and the armature, and adapted to be rotated on its axis against the resistance of a spring. In one form a soft-iron shuttle g is mounted between two extensions h, i, and in another form two curved iron cheeks p, q are interposed between the pole-pieces c, d and the armature. The supplementary armature may be connected to the brush-rocking gear. The method of regulation is especially applicable to dynamos used on motor-cars and motor-boats to charge accumulators for lighting and other purposes. The armature also may be used to operate a cut-out switch.
