Ball bearings. -A ball bearing for shafting &c. consists of two pairs of cup and cone members and two rows of balls, the parts being held together by an external or internal sleeve d, the ends of which are bent or spun over as shown in Fig. 1, or splayed as shown in Fig. 4. The two cup members b, Fig. 4, are separated by a distance-ring e, and each has an outer sheath f, a flange on which covers the joint between the inner and outer parts so as to retain oil in the bearing.
