24,299. Stresau, R., -and Fahn, W. J. Oct. 27. Variable-speed epicyclic gearing is controlled by friction and worm gearing. The driven member is a gear b<8>, which carries planet-gears b<5>, b<6> meshing with side gears b<3>, b<4>. The gear b<3> is secured to a worm-wheel b' meshing with a worm a<1> on the shaft a of a motor A. The gear b<4> is connected through worm gearing b<2>, c<2> to a parallel shaft c<1>. Disks c, c<Î> on the ends of the shafts a, c<1> are connected by friction rollers c<3>, c<4> and a shaft c<5>, the roller c<3> being slidable on the shaft to vary the speed of the gear b<4> and thus of the gear b<8>. The worm gearing prevents the drive from passing from the gear b<8> to the shaft a. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 15,036/00, 8140/04, and 17,803/09.
