[Addition to 3946/13.] Piston packing.- The wearing-faces of the split packing- rings B<1>, C<1> of the packing claimed in the parent Specification are recessed in order to balance the pressure of leakage steam at the back of the packing. The packing is expanded by wedge segments D pressed apart by springs E. In order to prevent tipping of the packing-rings, the segments D are formed with parallel surfaces extending beyond the packing-rings.
