Abstract

20,887. Pointon, J. E. Sept. 16. Bakers' ovens.-Consists in an arrangement of multiple ovens or a battery of baking chambers having endless movable baking plates, and in the provision of conveyers for charging and discharging the same. A number of ovens a, as separately shown in Fig. 2, are grouped side by side and a feed conveyer band b passes along the front while a discharging band d passes along the rear. The shelf of the oven is formed by an endless chain or the like e. For charging, the conveyer e is started preferably with an intermittent movement and at the same time a reciprocating push-bar g is set in motion. Dough portions carried from the prover by the conveyer b are thus fed into the oven. The motion of the bar g and the band e is stopped when the oven is full, and the oven is closed and the bread allowed to bake. After baking is complete, the band e is again set in motion and the baked bread is transferred to the conveyer d which feeds on to a band which transfers the loaves to storing racks m. The dough portions from the dividing machine and preliminary prover are brought to the main prover by the conveyer p and are transferred to tins on the prover chains at the point 4. They are discharged from the prover on to the conveyer b at the point 5 by a push-rod g. At the point where the conveyer d discharges, the empty tins are placed on to the prover chains and the tins are greased at the point 3. The baked bread may be taken from the tins before the carriage reaches the point 2, and a pusher used at this point to place the empty tins on the prover chain.
