Class 51(ii) [Also in Group XXX] In apparatus for discharging baking tins or loaves from swing trays or controlled level trays having slot and finger comb-like constructions of the type employed on the travelling conveyers of bakery oven and prover units according to Specification 696,123, discharge of the tins takes place on an ascending lap of the tray conveyer 3 by means of a discharge conveyer comprising chains 5 carrying twin bearing platforms 12 with deeply slotted forward edges forming prongs 12a intermeshing with the prongs of the oven trays 1 as each said platform moves up below and behind and at a faster rate than an oven tray passing the discharge station, thereby removing the baking tins. As the discharge conveyer passes along its lower horizontal run, a plate 20 pushes the tins off the bevelled rear edges 24 of the platforms on to the cushion 23 of a guide rail 22 which deposits them on an endless belt 21. Swinging of the platforms 12 is prevented by connecting their chain pins 11 through crank plates 14 and 15 and a crank pin 16 to control chains 4 having vertical laps offset from those of the chains 5. In a modification, Fig. 5, the discharge apparatus comprises a platform 53 formed with upstanding partitions 55 engaging the slots in the oven conveyer trays and mounted on a carriage 51 having rollers 52 positioned on rails 50, the platform being also formed with guide posts 57 slidable in bearings 58 in the carriage and terminating in rollers 59 which engage return tracks 60 as indicated below. As each oven conveyer tray 1 moves up to the discharge station, telescopic arms 61 rocked by a crank 65 move the carriage 51 below the oven tray and above an elevating table 70 which is actuated by cams 75 to raise the platform through the oven tray removing the baking tins, the platform being immediately moved rearwardly along the return tracks 60 until the rollers 59 reach the end of said tracks 60 when they drop, together with the platform, into their initial position. In this position, a bar 77 carried between arms 78 secured to a shaft 79 operated by a bell crank lever 80 drops down behind the tins and on the next forward movement of the carriage 51 said bar 77 pushes the tins down a co-acting carriage ramp 67 and fixed ramp 82 on to a conveyer or table 69, the bar being then raised. With both embodiments, a charging station is positioned above the discharge station on the same upwardly travelling lap of the tray conveyer.
