Ball - and - socket joints. - A suction - pipe attachment for the receiving-end of pneumatic grain-elevators &c. consists of a hollow globe g with an open passage p at one end and a slotted flange nf at the other adapted to receive the usual form of valve. The globe is held, without packing, between seatings formed to the correct radius in two plates l which are adjusted by means of studs s to give the required friction at the joints.
