Abstract

19,916. Le Compte, E. P., and Hodgson, C. W. Sept. 3. Holders are provided with knife-edges to cut transversely into insulated supply-conductors. Fig. 1 shows a porcelain or like base having two grooves J in each of which is fixed a screw terminating in a knifeedge L<2>, arranged transversely in the groove. A supply conductor is clamped across each knife-edge L<2> by a plate Q which is secured by a screw T and has a lug R to engage a recess S in the base. A screw socket for a lamp is threaded into an upstanding part A of the base, from which projects a central contact. The knife-edges L<2> are connected to the sleeve and central contact respectively. The holder may be used for pendent lamps, or may be provided with shoulders F for the reception of screws G for securing the base to a wall, table, or other rigid support.
