Abstract

19,761. Seckendorff, H. Sept. 3, 1912, [Convention date]. Floors, cleaning.-In machines for cleaning, scouring, polishing and waxing floors in which reciprocating tools are driven from a motor through a crank-and-slot motion, the driving- cranks are arranged directly above each tool, and the corresponding slots are formed on the tool-carriers, thus eliminating all mechanism between the crank-and-slot drive and the tool ; also the movement of the propelling-handle of the machine into a vertical position is adapted to raise the tools automatically out of contact with the floor. Fig. 1 shows a construction of machine in which the slots b<1> on the tool-carriers are engaged by crank-pins d<1> carried by toothed wheels d which are driven from the motor g by a common pinion f so that the tools alternately approach and recede from one another. When the propelling-handle is moved into a vertical position, cams i carried on the bifurcated portion depress spindles n against the action of springs k, and thus lower supporting- wheels e until the tools are clear of the ground
