Sights.-Relates to independent line-of-sight mechanisms for high-angle fire guns, and consists in an arrangement wherein, the sighting- telescope being fixed, the alinement of the sights and target during the pointing of the gun is effected by the automatic rotation of a prism in front of the telescope. An open-sight bar, pivoted upon an horizontal axis, is arranged so that the rear-sight is in the prolongation of the pivot axis. The telescope J is mounted in a bracket A on a non-elevating part of the gun-carriage. A prism-containing casing is journaled into the front end of the telescope casing, and is connected by an arm L and link K to an arm H pivoted at h<2> to the bracket A. A roller h<1> at the lower end of the arm H engages in a cam-groove d<1> in the elevating-arc D. An open-sight bar M is rigidly connected with the arm H, so that the rear-sight N is in the axis of the pivot h<2>. When the ranging hand-wheel B is operated, the gun is elevated by the rotation of the pinion C in gear with the stationary rack D. Operation of the pointing hand-wheel G, raises or lowers the rack D, so that the groove d<1> moves relatively to the roller h<1> and rocks the arm H, thereby rotating the prism-casing, and rocking the sight-bar M. Gearing within the prism-casing rotates the prism i' at one-half the speed of the casing.
