Abstract

18,209. Lockyer, N. J. Aug. 11. Double-beat valves.-In order that the lower portion 2 of a double-beat valve for locomotives may be of equal or greater diameter than the upper portion 1, the two parts 1, 2 of the valve are made separately, the part 2 being introduced through a side opening in the valve-chest. The two parts 1, 2 are then connected to the valve spindle and the opening in the valve-chest closed by a plate 4, Fig. 2. The valve faces are provided with baffles 6, 7, one of which is cylindrical and one conical.
