17,909. Adair, M. Aug. 6. Sewing-machines; stopping-gear, automatic. -Electric contacts are provided whereby the stop-gear is actuated' when the fabric gets out of position in the guides &c. Fig. 3 shows a hemming-attachment a slotted to accommodate a pair of electric contacts c<1>, d<1> carried by insulated arms c, d, the arm c being pivoted. When working normally, the fabric is between the contacts, but on the fabric getting out of position, the circuit is completed and the machine is stopped by suitable mechanism; for instance that described in Specification 3730/10. Where two machines work together on the same fabric, the device may be arranged to stop either machine.
