Heating by electricity. -A utensil is provided with a bottom of such shape and thickness as to prevent distortion by heat, and having a true flat or lenticnlar outer surface, so as to fit exactly a correspondingly - shaped electric hot-plate. In the form shown in Fig. 3. the edge of the base b of the utensil is recessed to receive a flange c<1> on the hot-plate. In a modification, the base has a depending flange fitting over the hot-plate. In another modification, the base is convex and has a circumferential groove, into which the wall a of the utensil is sprung; in another modification the base is concave. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the base has upstanding circular and radial webs b<4>.
