Lay - figure stands.- Sectional adjustable dress stands are formed with an independent waist portion, the sections of which are hinged to the hip sections, and adjustably connected to the bust sections. The hip sections may be adjustably connected in pairs to s l o t t e d mounting- plates, and be hinged to separable sections of the skirt form so that the latter may be folded up for transport, and means may be provided for independent adjustment of the neck longitudinally and radially, and for covering the gaps between the shoulder sections when the figure is expanded. The skirt form 100 is made in a number of sections 102 which are individually hinged at 199 to the separate hip sections 12, and are adjusted by slotted connecting- strips, and maintained in position by telescopic spreaders which may be disconnected to allow the skirt portion to fold up. The hip sections 11, 14 are hinged to the waist sections 75 at 40 a third leaf 43 of the hinge carrying a slotted or perforated connexion allowing the sections to be expanded and secured in two groups by bolts 67, which may be extended so as to be accessible from below. The adjustment for the lower end of the hip sections is shown in Fig. 7, and consists in slotting the plates 30 for connexion in pairs to the carrier 85. The body sections are adjusted in any convenient manner, provision being made to cover any gap at the shoulder by a plate 16, which is fixed to one section and slides on the other. The neck sections 7 are adjusted by the arrangement shown in Fig. 14, according to which vertical adjustment may be made on loosening the thumb-screw 89, while the sections are clamped against lateral movement by the parts 92, 93, 94, and lateral adjustment may be made by turning a sleeve 97 to release the clamp, the vertical adjustment being maintained.
