Abstract

Covers for exposed seats.-A cover for protecting an omnibus or other exposed seat when unoccupied, is constructed so that it can be sat on in fine weather and swung forward to protect the occupant in bad weather. The cover e is shaped to conform to the shape of the seat and comprises a framing filled in with waterproof cloth, sheet metal, &c., back-rest and seating boards f, g being arranged on it as shown. The cover is hinged at the floor level to a hinged floor plate or open frame h so that the parts can be turned up into the dotted line positions in bad weather. A vertical or curved protecting-plate q may be arranged as shown so that the cover projects slightly over it when raised. A bar r is provided to hold the cover in its raised position. A shoulder covering and protector for the vacant part of a double seat when occupied by one person only, is attached to the parts e', m, n, the member m being capable of moving outwards against the action of a spring on its sliding pivot.
