Abstract

21,946. Binge, E. M., and Binge, E. S. Oct. 12. Seat protectors for omnibus and other exposed seats. In one arrangement, the cover B, formed of laths or waterproof or other material, is normally retained by a spring a within a case A clipped to the seat frame. When required for use, it is drawn over the seat and attached by a tab to a hook c. This hook is withdrawn from the tab, when a person sits down, by a plunger c' engaging a spring c<2> attached to the hook, so that the cover is returned to its position in the case when the occupant of the seat rises. In reversible-back seats, the cover is rolled up within a case beneath the seat so that it can be drawn out either way, a hook or the like being provided at both back and front of the seat. According to another construction, Fig. 3, the cover B is attached to the seat back by hooks c, and, when the seat is unoccupied, takes the position shown in dotted lines. If wet, the cover is released. When the seat is used with the cover out, more of the latter is drawn from the case A when the user sits down, as shown in full lines. The cover may be normally within its case, and be withdrawn to provide a dry seat. The case A may be upon the seat back and the hook c below the front of the seat.
