Abstract

15,139. Samuely, O. July 1, 1912, [Conventon date]. Air, yas, and vapour injectors; radiations, treating diseases with. - Apparatus for treating the vagina with radio - active emanations comprises a speculum a provided with slots and fitted with a plug a' through which passes a perforated tube b. The tube b has a stopcock b<1> and communicates with a suction device g and a container d for the emanation. The tube f connecting the junction-piece c<1> with the bulb g has a three-way tap f<1> by which the communication can be established between the bulb g and the air while the tube b is cut off, and between the bulb and the tube b while the air is cut off. In use, the speculum a is placed in position with the valve b<1> open and the valve f<1> arranged to connect the bulb g with the air. The bulb g is then exhausted by pressure, and the valve f<1> is turned to shut off the air and connect the bulb with the tube b, whereby the speculum is exhausted. The tube b is then connected to the container d to allow the emanations to pass into the speculum, and the residual emanations may be forced from the container by means of a bulb e<1>. The tap b<1> is then closed, and the tube c disconnected from the tube b, leaving the speculum in position. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 97 (3) (a) states also that the apparatus may be used for treating the vagina with other gases and vapours. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
