Incandescent gasburners.-In a modification of the highpressure inverted burner described in Specification 28,360 / 07, the mantle-supporting ring, made of heat-insulating material, is supported from the underside of the heating-chamber of the burner tube, and a space is left between the ring and the metal burner mouth through which the burnt gasesare prevented from circulating. In the form shown, the mantle-supporting ring 3 is cupshaped with a central aperture and is screwed or otherwise secured to the heating-chamber 2, and the burner mouth 1 of substantial crosssection and of good heat-conducting metal has a preferably hemispherical lower end. A soft mantle is fitted at its upper end with a wire ring 7, which rests in a recess 5 in the ring 3. Eddies in the space between the ring and the nozzle may be prevented by inserting a thin asbestos washer 8 at its lower end. The Provisional Specification also states that the mantlesupporting ring may also be used in conjunction with means for cooling the burner mouth, such as is described in Specification 1348/12.
