Abstract

13,753. Frenay, J. L. June 13. Bleaching, processes and materials for.-Straw plait, vegetable fibres, hats, &c. are prepared for bleaching by immersion in a soaking-bath containing an alkali pyrophosphate, and subsequently clearing as usual. In an example, the bath contains a hydrosulphite compound such as Blankit, and is rendered strongly alkaline with sodium pyrophosphate. An example of a clearing-bath is a dilute solution of sulphuric acid.
