Abstract
13,227. Smith, J. M. J. June 7. Wheel guards and obstruction - removers.- A counterbalanced cradle h is depressed by projections g on an openwork screen d, when the screen is struck by an obstacle. The screen d is pivoted at c and is made in one with an upper solid screen a, which acts as an air brake when the vehicle is in motion, keeps the screen d in a forward position as indicated by l, and deadens the shock of impact between the obstacle and the screen. When the projections g ride over and depress the cradle h until the position indicated by m is reached, the front screen d slips into a recess in the cradle and remains locked in position.
