Actuating by wave mills.-A buoy 2 which receives motion from waves is mounted on an endless rope or chain 9, which passes over sheaves or sprocket-wheels 1, 3 below and above water level respectively. The sheave 1 transmits its motion to a crank-shaft 6 by which force-pumps 4 are driven. If rotation of the shafts is required in one direction only, the wheel 1 is connected thereto through a ratchet-clutch.
