Abstract

Water-tube boilers; priming, preventing. - The headers of a superheater, which is built up of a number of elements each consisting of a header, inlet and outlet pipes, and superheating - tubes, are supported on carriers attached to the boiler. The inlet pipe of each element is connected directly to the boiler and the outlet to a common superheated - steam chamber. Figs. 7 and 7<A> show a form in which the elements consist of Field tubes, and are arranged in connexion with a Stirling or like boiler. The elements a are connected to headers d, each supported on a separate carrier e attached to the boiler drums. The drum f is formed with a steam chamber g, separated from the main steam space by a perforated partition g<1> to prevent priming. The headers d are connected to the chamber g by tubes b, and by tubes c to a chamber i situated inside the other steam drum but not communicating with it. The chamber i is connected by a passage passing through the drum to an outlet j for the superheated steam. Other forms are described with elements formed of U-tubes applied to various types of tubulous and cylindrical boilers.
