Propelling and steering by vibrating plates; rudders.-Oscillating propellers of'the kind described in Specification 10,735/00 are mounted in pairs one above the other. The stocks r of the blades R, Fig. 1, are coupled by universal joints u to the steering-stocks s to the upper parts of which are attached disks d coupled by springs g to a worm-wheel w. The wheel w is driven by a worm o actuated by the steering- wheel. The stocks r are enclosed in swinging arms A carried by the oscillating shafts a, a<1>, which are driven by cranks f, f<1> The steering- shaft of the lower rudder passes through a slot in the upper oscillating shafts. The rudders may be strengthened by stays passing to the oscillating shafts. In a modification, the lower rudder is of the ordinary non-oscillnting type.
