Abstract

10,707. Bacon, R. H. S., and Redpath, R. May 6. Methods of sighting.- Consists in mounting independently of any gun the apparatus described in Specification 11,946/12 for measuring the angles of deflexion in elevation and azimuth to be applied to gun sights when firing at rapidly-moving aerial or marine targets. An elevation of the apparatus is shown in Fig. 1. H a n d - w h e e l s 12, 18 control the speeds at which the apparatus is e'evated and trained to follow the moving target, and dials 21, 22 indicate the corresponding deflexion angles required for sighting the gun. These angles are communicated to the gunners verbally, by telephone, or by hunting pointers, or the gun-sights may be mechanically operated by the apparatus. Instead of the deflexion angles being transmitted, the actual angles of elevation and training may be transmitted.
