Abstract

8568. Giusti, T. April 11. Filaments; filaments, supports for. - A filament in the form of a tapering helix, which may be truncated, is supported around a single central stem 5 of transparent material, the coils of the helix being approximately of circular, Fig. 2, triangular, quadrilateral, or other polygonal, geometrical, or irregular form. The stem 5 may be a glass tube or rod, and one leading-in wire 7 may pass longitudinally through it. The filament may be threaded through rings on the ends of supporting-arms 8 fixed radially to the stem and the coils may be single, double, treble, &c., the current passing through each coil in the same direction.
