Abstract
6853. Gibb, A. S. March 20. Fluids, regulating volume of flow of.-In apparatus for obtaining a constant supply of water under a varying head for irrigation and like purposes, the regulating-chamber is so formed that the stream of water passing through is constrained to flow in a substantially spiral course. The spiral chamber is divided into a series. of compartments by radial partitions 1 communicating with each other at their lower ends. The water flows beneath the lower edges 3 of the partitions, the edges being preferably bent to point upstream and disposed approximately tangentially to the section of the stream. If desired, the inlet pipe 5 may be connected to the regulating-chamber through a spiral-passage with a cover 6 arranged to be inclined downwards until it leads into the regulating - chamber.
