Abstract

6569. Schou, E. April 3, 1912, [Convention date]. Automatic gear.-In a compound engiue in which steam is taken from the receiver for heating purposes, the pressure in the receiver is kept constant by a loaded piston which adjusts the cut-off or a throttle valve controlling the admission to the second cylinder. The piston f, which works in a cylinder e, has a reduced extension which works in a reduced extension of the cylinder e. By putting either or both of the spaces e1, e2 into communication with the receiver the apparatus can be adjusted for three different pressures. The apparatus normally acts upon the shaft m, which is connected to the low-pressure valve-gear or a throttle valve, and is thrown out of action by raising the point p to the top of the thread by means of the hand-wheels v. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the member f is loaded directly by a weight or spring and may act on the admission of the high-pressure cylinder; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
