Abstract

5765. Belbin, G. P. March 8. Carburetting.-In a carburettor for internalcombustion engines, fuel is admitted at a valve 4 and passes over one or more gauze or like screens 7. Air is admitted through holes 11 around the valve spindle 8 and through openings 17 provided with suction-actuated valves 10; or the air may be admitted through an adjustable circular plate having holes adapted to register more or less with holes in the carburettor. The valve spindle 8 is screwed into the base 20 and is rotated to adjust the fuel inlet by means of a pulley 13 in one direction and a spring 12 in the other. The mixture passes a throttle valve 15 to the engine.
