5218. Brown, A. V. March 1. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Wheel guards and obstruction-removers.- A guard for vehicles is adapted to move with the steering-wheels and has a front roller g<1> which, when the guard is lowered manually or by contact with an obstacle, is rotated by a roller g<2> contacting with the ground. The guard comprises wires b, c, and is supported by a front frame l, with rollers l<1>, connected to a bar m. A pin and slot n connect the bar m to the frame of the vehicle at one end, and intermediately the bar is supported by a collar o and a link p pivoted at r to the collar o. When a link s is pulled or the guard is struck, the link p moves out of the vertical and the guard is lowered. The front bar e of the guard is supported by a bar f connected to a link k through a spring h. The link k and spring h are hinged to the steering-post and bar i respectively, so that the guard moves with the steering-wheels.
