Jackets and covers; tread projections and surfaces. -An outer cover provided w i t h metal tread plates h , which have spindles k passing therethrough and are preferably flush with the tread, is formed on its inner surface with recesses or a circumferential groove c for the washers or like securing-means on the spindles, which are elongated so as to be prevented from turning in the recesses or groove. The cover is preferably built up from a foundation formed with the recesses or groove and shoulders d, to which are added the recessed tread and a rubber or like band between the shoulders d to protect the air-tube. The edges of the cover are bent outwards to enable the washers to be screwed against the cover.
